Wildfire encircles seaside Greek village, forcing mass evacuations by boat as officials are trapped

A large wildfire swept through Viotia, Greece, on 31 July, trapping residents, tourists and even the regional governor on the coast. Coast Guard and fire service vessels evacuated at least 254 people from Agios Vasileios and another 12 from Porto Germeno by early Saturday.
