British director John Irvin dies at 86 following five-decade filmmaking career
British filmmaker John Irvin, who directed the 1979 spy miniseries Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the 1987 Vietnam War feature Hamburger Hill, died on 11 August at age 86.
