Pollar Sounds, one story at a time

A narrative podcast built from published reporting, edited by people and narrated by AI voices.

What we shipped

Pollar Sounds is a narrative podcast produced by Jan Sigsworth, a journalist and sound designer. The first episode, "A decree with her name on it, and nothing in it for her", starts with the eviction of Maricarmen Abascal from the Madrid flat her family had rented since 1956 and follows Spain's housing crisis to a vote in Congress. It runs 24 minutes in English, with subtitles in English, Polish, German and French. Script, research and editing are done by people. The two narrators are AI voices. Recordings of real people are original and never dubbed. The episode is on pollar.news and in podcast apps through our feed.

Why it matters

A summary tells you what happened. Some stories also need time: who the people are and how they got there. Pollar Sounds gives one story that time, and says plainly which parts are made with AI.
