How long should the daily brief be?
NewsroomBinding · queued, not yet open
This sets the length of the daily brief for a quarter. Every reader lives with it, so the case against is longer than usual.
The case against each option
Five items means days when something real is left out. Fifteen means the brief stops being a brief. No fixed length is honest about the news and hard to plan a morning around.
- What it costs us
- A prompt change and a week of watching completion.
- How we measure
- Share of readers who reach the last item, four weeks before and after.
- Who votes
- Founders (42)
- Binding
- Whatever wins, happens. One quarter, then five Founders can reopen it.
This ballot opens with a coming cycle: the next one if the Newsroom slot is free, later if its previous decision has not shipped yet.
