October's commissioned story

Commissioned storyBinding · queued, not yet open

The winner gets written and carries a line saying who commissioned it. Founders nominate the topics; the shortlist needs a clear question, sources we can verify, and not a single story.

The case against each option

Local press ownership is the hardest to source and the one nobody else will write. Chip money is well covered by the wires, so our piece must add the follow-the-money angle or it adds nothing. Housing across four capitals needs data two of them publish late. The AI Act is early: a piece written now may age within weeks.

What it costs us
Part of the deep dive we already produce, plus two days of sourcing.
How we measure
Read-through and shares against the trailing four deep dives.

Binding
Whatever wins, happens. One quarter, then five Founders can reopen it.
This ballot opens with a coming cycle: the next one if the Commissioned story slot is free, later if its previous decision has not shipped yet.
