The 33rd Zurich Street Parade began at 2pm on 8 August 2026, with 30 Love Mobiles rolling along a roughly two-kilometre lakeside route in hot, sunny weather and authorities expecting over 800,000 attendees by evening.
The 33rd edition of the Zurich Street Parade officially began at 14:00 on 8 August 2026, with the first Love Mobiles setting off along the roughly two-kilometre route from Utoquai to Mythenquai around Lake Zurich. Thirty Love Mobiles are taking part this year, each representing a different musical collective and broadcasting sounds ranging from hard techno to house and drum and bass. The procession moves at a walking pace amid confetti, soap bubbles and water sprays.
Weather is hot and sunny, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees and reaching 33 degrees. To help revellers cope with the heat, organisers have installed two giant showers along the route, and volunteers are distributing free glasses of water to prevent heatstroke. The cantonal police, deployed with a large security operation, recommend that participants drink enough water and protect themselves from the sun with hats and sunscreen. Tens of thousands of people have already taken turns under the water jets.
The Street Parade, which began in 1992 as a demonstration against the closure of nightclubs, is today one of the world's largest techno gatherings. Authorities expect attendance to surpass 800,000 people by the evening, when the procession ends and the party continues in clubs and along the lakeside until late at night. Attendees have come from across Europe, with flags, psychedelic costumes and a festive atmosphere along the lakefront.
