Transfer to hospital
Kathimerini reports that the woman was taken unconscious by ambulance from the clinic to Polygyros General Hospital, where doctors tried to revive her without success. SKAI names the destination as Chalkidiki General Hospital, so the reports differ on which hospital received her. Police officers who went to the clinic found that she had already been taken to hospital, and they learned there that she had died. Her body was then moved to the forensic service in Thessaloniki.
Questions raised at the clinic
NewsIT and iefimerida report that when police arrived at the clinic, the doctors and the person in charge of the clinic referred the officers to the company's legal advisers. NewsIT writes that this raised further questions about the circumstances of her death. The reports do not describe any legal step taken against the clinic or its staff.
Preliminary investigation and autopsy
The Polygyros Police Station is conducting the preliminary investigation, and Kathimerini reports that a forensic examination was ordered. NewsIT says police currently describe the death as sudden. SKAI reports that the preliminary investigation found the woman had chronic kidney and respiratory failure, was on medication and had dialysis sessions three times a week. An autopsy was expected on 13 October to establish the cause of death.
