Wisla Krakow defeats Piast Gliwice 4-3 in 120-minute friendly match in Myslenice
Wisla Krakow secured a 4-3 victory over Piast Gliwice in a four-quarter friendly fixture in Myslenice, holding off a three-goal third-quarter fightback.
High-scoring friendly in Myslenice
With the Ekstraklasa paused for a three-week national team break, Wisla Krakow and Piast Gliwice met on Friday afternoon for an extended training match in Myslenice. The fixture was held at the newly modernised Dalin Myslenice stadium, where Wisla had defeated fourth-tier Dalin 4-0 during the venue opening the previous weekend. To provide playing time for full squads and reserve players, the coaching staffs agreed on a non-traditional format consisting of four 30-minute quarters instead of standard 45-minute halves. The encounter produced a 4-3 win for Wisla, reversing the scoreline from their league meeting on 1 August, when Piast won 4-3 following an 88th-minute strike by Leandro Sanca.
- Wiktor Biedrzycki volleys in an Angel Rodado corner kick to give Wisla Krakow a 1-0 lead
- Wiktor Biedrzycki scores a header from another Angel Rodado corner kick for a 2-0 lead
- Frederico Duarte converts an Angel Rodado free kick cross to make it 3-0

- The match concludes after a scoreless fourth quarter with a 4-3 win for Wisla Krakow
Early dominance from set pieces
Wisla created early opportunities, beginning in the sixth minute when Angel Rodado set up James Igbekeme for a shot that struck the post. Moments later, Igbekeme played a through ball to Elie Youan, who found Rodado for a close-range effort that missed the target. Piast responded through Andreas Katsantonis, whose strike forced a save from Wisla goalkeeper Patryk Letkiewicz. In the 14th minute, Wiktor Biedrzycki opened the scoring by volleying in a corner delivered by Rodado. Piast nearly levelled when Katsantonis hit the post after dribbling past Biedrzycki, while Domen Gril denied Youan following a pass from Victor Meseguer. In the second quarter, following yellow cards for Marko Bozic and Filip Borowski, Biedrzycki doubled the lead with a header from another Rodado corner, while Oskar Lesniak hit the woodwork for Piast from a free kick.
Five-goal burst and Piast response
The contest widened rapidly during the third quarter through two quick goals for Wisla. Rodado supplied his third assist of the afternoon by curling in a free kick that Frederico Duarte turned into the net, before Marc Carbo struck from long range to make it 4-0. Piast mounted a rapid response, scoring three times in succession through Samuel Ntamack, Leandro Sanca, and Jakub Labojko. That sequence produced five goals within a 15-minute window, narrowing Wisla's advantage to 4-3 before the end of the period. Neither side converted their scoring chances during a scoreless fourth quarter.
Lineup rotation and return to league action
The extended duration allowed Wisla to field 25-year-old reserve forward Adrian Rodado in the 91st minute, creating a five-minute spell alongside his older brother Angel Rodado before the latter was substituted in the 96th minute. Wisla played without Julius Ertlthaler, who is scheduled to resume regular training on Monday following minor health issues, and Jeremy Guillemenot, who continues recovery from injury. In the Ekstraklasa standings, newly promoted Wisla sits in fourth place with 17 points from nine matches, while Piast occupies eighth place with 13 points. Both clubs resume league play on 11 October, with Piast hosting Widzew Lodz at 14:45 and Wisla visiting Legia Warszawa at 20:15.
