Radomiak Radom spoils Wieczysta Kraków's Ekstraklasa debut with 2-1 win in season opener
Wieczysta Kraków's first-ever Ekstraklasa match ended in a 2-1 defeat at Radomiak Radom on Friday evening, as the hosts used their top-flight experience to spoil the debut of the ambitious promoted side.
Radomiak, who finished 10th last season, took the lead just before half-time through Roberto Alves after a move involving Abdoul Tapsoba and Jan Grzesik. Grzesik added a second shortly after the restart, converting a clever corner routine set up by Luquinhas. Wieczysta, backed by investor Wojciech Kwiecień and coached by Kazimierz Moskal, had an early Feiertag goal disallowed for offside after a VAR review, but Feiertag did pull one back with a close-range finish following a slick exchange between Lucas Piazon and Miki Villar. The visitors hit the post late on but could not find an equaliser. Wieczysta, founded in 1942 and propelled through the divisions since Kwiecień's 2020 investment, reached the top flight by winning two-stage playoffs last season against Polonia Warszawa and Chrobry Głogów. They now face a wait for their first points.
