The Austrian offensive player scored the first goal to narrow the gap and subsequently assisted on both remaining goals for Bremen. The performance brought Grüll's total to six goal involvements across the first four rounds of the league season ahead of his arrival at the Austrian national team camp.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, SC Freiburg dropped league points for the first time this season following a 2-2 draw away against Eintracht Frankfurt, managed by coach Adi Hütter. Despite conceding points for the first time in the campaign, Freiburg preserved its unbeaten record.
