Gym teacher arrested in Voula over alleged sexual offences against minor pupils
Police arrested a 58-year-old physical education teacher at a Voula gymnasium after a 13-year-old pupil's mother filed a complaint. Two other minor pupils have since given statements to investigators.
The complaint and the arrest
Police arrested a 58-year-old physical education teacher in Voula, a coastal suburb south of Athens, on Thursday, 15 October 2026, at 12:45. The case began with a complaint filed by the mother of a 13-year-old pupil with the Voula, Vari and Vouliagmeni Division for Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes (TDEE). According to that complaint, the teacher touched the girl's thigh at midday on Wednesday, 14 October, during an exercise session at a gymnasium in the area. Reports identify the school as the 1st Gymnasium of Voula, and the teacher is reported to have been born in 1968.

Statements from two other pupils
During the same inquiry, two more minor pupils gave statements to investigators. Both said that, at an earlier point during lessons, the teacher had touched their genitals, according to reports. Coverage also says the teacher reportedly asked some of his pupils to give him massages, a claim presented as information in the reports rather than as a finding of the investigation. The two statements were added to the original complaint and form part of the case file.
Charges and next steps
A case file was opened against the teacher for an offence against sexual dignity. Coverage counts three complaints in total: the one from the 13-year-old's mother and the statements from the two other pupils. The teacher is due to be brought before the prosecutor on Friday, 16 October 2026, where he is expected to give his account of the allegations. He has been arrested but has not been tried, and any further steps will be decided by the prosecutor and the investigating authorities. Reports say the investigation is still gathering evidence and looking into the teacher's possible conduct beyond the three complaints.
Details that differ across coverage
Most reports give the teacher's age as 58, but one report gives it as 50. Reports also say he coaches a women's basketball team in addition to his teaching role. The complaint was lodged in Voula, and the investigation is being carried out by the division covering the Vari, Voula and Vouliagmeni area. The pupils involved are not named in the coverage, and two of them are described only as minors. The teacher is accused of the offences described and has not been convicted of any of them.
What happens next
The teacher's appearance before the prosecutor on Friday, 16 October will determine how the case moves forward. Investigators are expected to continue questioning witnesses and reviewing the complaints, and the case file will be sent to the next stage once the prosecutor has heard the teacher's account. No further arrests or charges have been reported in the coverage so far.
