Security concerns and Coimbra robbery
The overnight violence follows multiple firearms incidents, clashes, and physical assaults recorded across several neighborhoods in Greater Lisbon in recent weeks. Law enforcement authorities have noted growing concern regarding armed altercations in the metropolitan area. A separate violent incident also took place on Saturday, 22 August, in the city of Coimbra. A female store employee was assaulted during a robbery by an individual carrying an airsoft replica firearm. The suspect used the imitation weapon to threaten the retail worker before police officers identified him following the incident.
