Spanish media report the new salary at €24 million per season, though sources differ on whether this figure is gross (Ouest France) or net (El Periódico, citing SER). Vinicius's representatives had initially sought around €30 million annually, while the club's opening offer stood near €20 to €22 million. El Periódico reports that the club refused to pay a "fidelity bonus" outright, instead conceding a larger share of the player's image rights, which given his extensive sponsorship portfolio is expected to increase his annual income significantly. The outlet characterises the outcome as the first time president Florentino Pérez yielded in a negotiation with a star player, something neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Sergio Ramos achieved. Vinicius had informed the club he would fulfil his contract and then leave on a free transfer if his demands were not met, and later leveraged Arsenal's interest to strengthen his position.
