Swiss schlager singer Vincent Gross confirms split from girlfriend after nearly three years

The split

Swiss schlager singer Vincent Gross has confirmed that he and his girlfriend Sara have separated. He told Bild and Blick that the couple has been apart for several months, and Bild reports that the relationship broke down in early summer 2026, after just under three years together. Gross did not say on which date the split happened.

Gross blamed distance and clashing schedules for the end of the relationship, and he said the two parted on good terms.

“The long-distance relationship and our different life situations made it hard for us to find enough time together. So we have grown apart over time.”

He added that the two had separated amicably and look back on a beautiful time together. Gross has described the relationship as a private matter and has not said who initiated the split.

How the couple met

The two first met when Sara, then a teenager, joined a friend at one of Gross's concerts and the fan meeting that followed. Contact never fully broke off over the following years. They reconnected at the end of 2023, and the old acquaintance turned into a romance. The couple made their relationship public in 2024.

In early May 2026 they attended the Prix Walo awards together at the Zürcher Kongresshaus in Zurich, which was Sara's first red carpet appearance. She told Blick at the time that she gets nervous at such events, but that it is half as bad with Gross beside her.

Distance and daily life

Gross lives in Basel, while Sara studies in Saarbrücken, about 250 kilometres away, which Blick puts at roughly three hours by car. Sara attended his concerts and he travelled to see her, but the schedule of a touring singer left little time for the two of them. In an interview with Tele in August 2025, Gross described Sara as a jackpot win and thanked her for putting up with the demands of his career.

Career momentum

Gross won the 13th season of The Masked Singer Germany on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, performing as Fernando El Toro. In mid-October he made his debut on the stage of the Megapark on Ballermann, Mallorca. His 2023 hit Ouzo has more than 20 million streams, and his song Aperol Spritz is also popular at Mallorca parties, according to Focus.

On Friday, 23 October 2026, he released the single Cheerio with Lorenz Büffel and DJ Aaron. He is also a regular guest on Florian Silbereisen's ARD shows.

Looking ahead

Bild reports that Gross is set to appear on Silbereisen's ARD New Year's Eve show on 31 December. He also plans to mark the tenth anniversary of his debut album Rückenwind, whose release anniversary falls in spring 2027, and he has already written new music on Mallorca this year.

The singer has therefore set his personal life aside while his career continues to build momentum into the new year.
