Vetusta Morla opens ten-date Spanish tour in Barcelona with eight unreleased songs
The Madrid rock band debuted eight new tracks during a 26-song set at the Palau Sant Jordi, kicking off a ten-date tour across seven Spanish cities.
Return to the stage in Barcelona
Spanish rock band Vetusta Morla opened their return tour on Friday night at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, ending a two-year hiatus. The tour, titled 'Gira de vuelta. Canciones de ida', marks the band's first live performance since pausing activity following their May 2024 album 'Figurantes'. Six band members had reunited in early 2026, spending more than seven months in their rehearsal space writing and practicing new tracks. To prepare the audience, the band hid 100 personalized lyric booklets across the city on 29 September and emailed the full text to ticket holders on 1 October. Their comeback single, 'Si vuelves', released on 18 September, had already accumulated more than 500,000 streams on Spotify prior to the concert.

New songs and circular stage design
The performance featured 26 songs, including eight unreleased compositions that the band played live for the first time. The stage was arranged to simulate a rehearsal room, positioning the musicians in a circle facing one another on a platform surrounded by camera rails. Lead singer Pucho greeted the crowd in Catalan before opening the set with four consecutive new tracks. The concert began with 'Mi colección de duelos', featuring dissonant guitar work by Juanma Latorre, followed by 'Si vuelves', 'Bailar en Beirut', and 'De alguna forma'. Later in the set, the band introduced further new compositions, including 'Todo lo que arde', the semi-acoustic 'Lo importante', 'La caja de los truenos', and the encore opener 'Si nos quedamos solo en el mundo'.
Social messages and classic repertoire
Between musical numbers, Pucho addressed the audience on several political and social topics. He voiced support for a state pact on climate change, expressed solidarity with housing rights activists, and called for a free Palestine. He explained the band's decision to return to public performance through artistic expression.
Since the world is falling down the drain, we decided to return with the best tools we have to fight against tedium and meaninglessness: songs.
The setlist also incorporated established material from the band's seven prior studio albums. The group performed 'La deriva', during which Pucho played percussion, along with 'Los Buenos' and 'El hombre del saco'. They included three selections from their 2021 record 'Cable a tierra', revisited 'Maldita dulzura' from the 2011 album 'Mapas', and concluded the evening with 'Copenhague' and 'Los días raros'.
Autumn tour schedule across Spain
The Barcelona concert serves as the opening date for an autumn tour encompassing ten shows across seven Spanish cities throughout October and November 2026. Following the performance at Palau Sant Jordi, the band travels to Valencia for a concert on 9 October. Subsequent stops include Pamplona on 24 October and Málaga on 31 October. In November, Vetusta Morla will stage two consecutive shows in A Coruña on 6 and 7 November, visit Sevilla on 14 November, and conclude the tour with three concerts in Madrid on 19, 20, and 21 November.
