Two motorcyclists killed in separate crashes in Kildare and Cork on 4 July

Two male motorcyclists died in separate road collisions in County Kildare and County Cork on Saturday, 4 July. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage in both cases.

Kildare crash

A motorcyclist in his 50s died after a single-vehicle collision in Killick, Kilcock, Co. Kildare on Saturday morning, 4 July. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45am. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place. The coroner has been notified. The road was closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Cork crash

A second fatal crash took place on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork at around 8pm on Saturday evening. A motorcycle and a jeep collided. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was brought to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem. The driver of the jeep, a man in his 80s, was taken to the same hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening. The road remains closed pending a forensic examination, with local diversions in place. A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the deceased man's family, and the coroner has been notified.

Garda appeals

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage in both cases. For the Kildare crash, they are asking anyone who was travelling in the Killick area between 10:30am and 11:00am to come forward. For the Cork crash, the appeal covers road users on the N20 near Castlewrixon between 7:15pm and 8:00pm.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Killick, Kilcock, Co. Kildare this morning between 10:30am and 11:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
