A home win decided by one error
Torino beat Udinese 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Monday, 12 October, in the sixth round of Serie A, the monday night fixture that closed the round. Notícias ao Minuto reported that it was Torino's first home win in the league this season. Ignazio Abate set his side up in a 4-4-2, with Simeone and Adams up front and Oristanio and Cacciamani on the flanks, while Vlasic and Fitz-Jim started on the bench (ANSA). Udinese, coached by Runjaic, left out Alaba and Davis at the start, and Udinese had an early chance when Chakvetadze's shot was turned behind for a corner (ANSA).
Goals and the decisive error
Torino took the lead in the 36th minute. Adams hit the post with a header from a corner from the left, and Daniel Bragança was first to the rebound to put the ball into an empty net, according to AGI. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp equalised in the 43rd minute, after Solet's pass to Ebosse and Ebosse's return ball, with the video referee checking a possible offside by Ebosse before the goal stood (Adnkronos and ANSA). Torino then struggled to find a second goal until the restart, when Okoye misplayed a ball in the 8th minute of the second half, and Simeone shot over.
The decisive moment came in the 67th minute. Vlasic played a long ball forward, Okoye came off his line, misjudged the bounce and collided with Bertola, leaving the ball for Kulenovic, who had just come on, to tap into an empty net. Adnkronos described the mistake as the moment that decided the match. Late on, Ekkelenkamp struck from outside the area and the ball went narrowly wide of Perri's post, the last chance of the game (AGI).
