Judicial sources reported that Ciumac and Danu Spartanu have a long-standing acquaintance within the Romanian combat sports community. Prior to the confrontation on Lipscani Street, both men had been scheduled to face each other in an official mixed martial arts match organized for 30 October 2026. That scheduled bout was set to take place at the Sports Hall (Sala Sporturilor) in the city of Buzau.
