Three people from the same family were killed and one was wounded in a shooting at a home in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, on Wednesday morning. The shooter was among the three dead, according to Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden, who confirmed at a press conference that all those involved were adults and members of the same family. The Caswell County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at the home just before 8 a.m. local time, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NC SBI) said in a statement. Deputies arriving at the scene found multiple people who had been shot inside the home. One person was transported to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound. Sheriff Durden said the injured person had been transferred to Duke University Hospital with bullet wounds, but authorities had no information on their condition. The identities of the victims and the suspected shooter had not been released, as next of kin had yet to be notified. Authorities clarified that the incident was isolated and limited to the single home, with no danger to local residents.

The NC SBI said crime scene investigators were on scene processing evidence and conducting interviews. Investigators were also questioning witnesses at the crime scene. The state investigation bureau announced the incident on Facebook, stating that officers from the local sheriff's office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol had responded immediately. Multiple agencies were on site, including the Caswell County Sheriff's Department, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the NC SBI, the Prospect Hill Fire Department, Caswell County Emergency Medical Services, Caswell County Emergency Management, and the Person County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting came days after another mass shooting on Saturday at a burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, where three people were killed and seven were injured.
