Norwegian teen found dead on Spanish motorway after vanishing from Marbella nightclub

Night out turns to disappearance

Nikoline, a 17-year-old Norwegian, was spending her last night on the Costa del Sol watching Norway's World Cup round-of-16 match against Brazil. After the 2-1 victory, she and a friend joined a group of young Norwegians at the Funky Buddha nightclub in Puerto Banús, Marbella. Between 3:00 and 4:00 am on Monday 6 July, the friend lost sight of her after going to the bathroom. Nikoline's mobile phone last pinged near the club, and she did not return to her accommodation. Her family, with whom she had been staying since 19 June, reported her missing that morning.

Body found on the A-7 motorway

At around 5:20 am, several drivers alerted emergency services to a body on the A-7 motorway at kilometre 1,027, near Mijas, in the direction of Marbella. Paramedics arrived to find a young woman who had been struck by a vehicle; she was pronounced dead at the scene. She carried no identification, delaying confirmation of her identity. Hours later, authorities linked the victim to the missing-person report and identified her as Nikoline. The location was roughly 30 kilometres from the nightclub, a distance that would take about seven hours on foot, suggesting she was transported there.

Driver at large, investigation underway

The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation to identify the vehicle and its driver, who fled without rendering aid. According to Canal Sur, citing investigation sources, Nikoline took a ride-hailing vehicle (VTC) from Marbella to Mijas. Detectives are reconstructing her movements between the time she vanished and the fatal collision. No hypothesis has been ruled out.
