Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami on UK extradition warrant, face 59 charges including rape and child pornography
US Marshals detained the controversial influencers Saturday, hours before Andrew Tate was to co-host a bare-knuckle boxing event. The UK Crown Prosecution Service approved 59 charges spanning rape, human trafficking, and child abuse imagery.
Arrest in Miami
US Marshals arrested Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, in Miami on Saturday, July 18, 2026, executing a UK extradition request. The arrest came hours before Andrew was scheduled to co-host a bare-knuckle boxing event in the city. A Justice Department spokesperson confirmed the arrests were made under international extradition treaties. The warrant remains sealed, preventing immediate disclosure of the specific charges, according to the Marshals Service.
New UK charges
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Andrew Tate faces 42 charges, including seven new counts of rape, three of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, three of causing actual bodily harm, and 19 related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces 17 charges: one sexual assault, two rapes, and three counts of trafficking. The alleged offenses occurred between July 2010 and August 2017 in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. CPS Special Crime Division head Malcolm McHaffie said the decisions followed new evidence from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total alleged victims to seven.
The decisions to charge were made after receiving additional evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.
Prior to these additions, Andrew Tate already faced three rape charges, four for causing actual bodily harm, two for human trafficking, and one for pimping in the UK. The brothers had previously been told in May 2025 they would face 21 charges in the UK for offenses between 2012 and 2016.
Defense response
Attorney Joseph McBride, representing the brothers, dismissed all charges as a "politically motivated attack" and insisted on their innocence. He argued the UK extradition request violates an alleged agreement with Romania not to seek extradition while Romanian proceedings are ongoing.
The whole world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent. Their enemies know it best. That's why they've been targeted.
McBride also claimed the new charges aim to counter a defamation lawsuit the brothers filed in the United States.
Ongoing Romanian case
The Tate brothers remain under investigation in Romania, where prosecutors accuse them of recruiting women from Romania, the UK, and the US for sexual exploitation. After travel restrictions were lifted, they relocated to Florida in February 2025. In 2024, Bedfordshire Police obtained European arrest warrants to secure their return from Romania.
What's next
The brothers are expected to appear before a federal court in Florida early next week for the start of extradition proceedings. The US Justice Department will review the UK's request under bilateral treaties. If extradited, they will face trial on all charges in the UK.
