The confrontation

The rescuer, whose face was covered, approached a house in Ano Syros and rang the doorbell. A woman answered, and an argument immediately erupted between the two. The male partner of the resident then came to the door and stabbed the visitor in the back with a sharp object, according to police information cited by multiple outlets. The injured woman fled the house, bleeding heavily, and ran along the street. The couple chased her, throwing objects in her direction, until she collapsed on the roadway and died from her wounds.

Emergency response and death

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and transported the woman to the General Hospital of Syros. Some reports noted that she was still wearing her EKAB uniform and gloves when she was picked up. Doctors at the hospital confirmed her death shortly after arrival. Her body was then transferred to the hospital morgue.

Arrests and investigation

Police forces quickly arrived and cordoned off the area. The couple, a man and a woman, were taken to the local security police station (Asfaleia) for questioning and were subsequently arrested. The couple's account

The detained couple told investigators that the rescuer had arrived at their home carrying a knife and that they acted in self-defence.
