Poland striker Karol Świderski agrees terms with Widzew Łódź as club negotiate €1m fee
Karol Świderski is on the brink of a return to Poland’s top flight after seven years abroad, having agreed personal terms with Widzew Łódź. The clubs are now finalising the transfer fee, expected to be around €1 million.
The transfer in progress
After weeks of speculation, Karol Świderski has reached an agreement on personal terms with Widzew Łódź, according to Polish media reports. The 29-year-old forward, still under contract with Greek side Panathinaikos until 2028, is now waiting for the two clubs to finalise the payment structure. Widzew are said to have negotiated a very favourable fee of just €1 million for a player with 51 Poland caps.
According to our information, the 29-year-old has already agreed contract terms with Widzew. The club have negotiated a very good price with Panathinaikos. They are to pay only €1 million for the Poland international.
Świderski’s career
Świderski left the Ekstraklasa in January 2019 when he moved from Jagiellonia Białystok to PAOK Thessaloniki. He later played for Charlotte FC and Hellas Verona before joining Panathinaikos in January 2025. In the 2025/26 season he scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 46 appearances. For the national team he has 14 goals from 51 matches.
Financial muscle
The striker’s current salary in Athens is around €1 million per season, a figure Widzew are able to match. The Łódź club already pays similar wages to winger Osman Bukari and forward Andi Zeqiri, and a €1 million transfer fee would be modest compared to the reported €5 million spent on Bukari last year. Owner Robert Dobrzycki has shown a readiness to invest despite a disappointing previous campaign in which the team narrowly avoided relegation.
Widzew’s summer reshuffle
If the deal goes through, Świderski would become the third Poland international to join Widzew in 2026, following goalkeeper Bartłomiej Drągowski and defender Przemysław Wiśniewski who arrived in the winter. The club will now abandon its pursuit of Afimico Pululu, the Jagiellonia Białystok forward, and is instead expected to complete the signing of winger Kamil Jakubczyk from Arka Gdynia. Świderski’s arrival is seen as the centrepiece of a squad rebuild aimed at climbing the table in the 2026/27 season.
