Świątek and Chwalińska

Iga Świątek moved from ninth to eighth in the WTA ranking dated 26 October 2026, even though she had already ended her season early because of health problems. She was due to play in Ningbo the previous week but withdrew for health reasons, as did Maja Chwalińska. According to RMF24, Świątek also announced that she would not appear on court again this season. Chwalińska kept 11th place, her highest ranking to date, but the reports disagree on her schedule. RMF24 says the Tokyo organisers announced on Monday, 26 October, that she had withdrawn with an injury, while Polsat Sport and Niezależna say she was still set to compete there this week.

Other Polish players

Magdalena Fręch fell from 47th to 50th, and Magda Linette rose from 77th to 71st. Interia Sport reports that Fręch withdrew from qualifying in Tokyo because of an injury sustained in Ningbo and suggests her season may also be over. Katarzyna Kawa made the biggest gain among the Polish players, moving from 128th to 106th after reaching the Ningbo quarterfinals, where she lost to Jelena Rybakina. The top of the rankings

Jelena Rybakina stays at the top after winning Ningbo, her 15th career title, which Interia Sport describes as the first time she has defended a title won the year before. Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva remain second and third. Interia Sport says Rybakina's lead over Sabalenka has grown to 1,951 points. Next week Rybakina loses 1,500 points for last year's Riyadh title and Sabalenka loses 1,000, which by that outlet's calculation would narrow the gap to 1,451 points. Interia Sport also says Rybakina needs one win in Tokyo to secure the year-end No. 1 ranking. Świątek is expected to lose eighth place next week and fall behind Linda Noskova again, and she will miss the Masters in Indian Wells.
