Sunday brings peak heat and abundant sunshine
Sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend, with highs ranging from 29 to 31 degrees. Skies will be mostly sunny, though some clouds may appear later. The DWD forecasts a very low chance of showers during the afternoon. Temperatures in Berlin are expected to reach 28 degrees, according to the city portal berlin.de, with light winds of 10 to 12 kilometres per hour and no precipitation anticipated for the capital. The overnight lows into Monday will stay mild, between 14 and 17 degrees.
Monday outlook: possible thunderstorms in the north
The summer weather continues into the new week, but conditions become slightly more unsettled. Monday will again see highs of 27 degrees in the Uckermark region and up to 31 degrees in Niederlausitz. Skies will be partly cloudy, with thicker cloud cover spreading across northern Brandenburg. The DWD warns that showers and even isolated thunderstorms could develop there, while southern areas remain mostly dry. The rest of the week is likely to stay warm but with occasional local showers.
Eastern Germany shares the warmth
The sunny spell extends beyond the capital region. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt and Thüringen all experience similar conditions. Coastal areas at the Baltic Sea will stay cooler, with highs of 22 to 25 degrees on Sunday, while inland areas in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern reach 25 to 29 degrees. In Saxony, temperatures climb to 28-31 degrees over the weekend, with only isolated afternoon showers possible in the mountains.
