The fall
On Wednesday afternoon, around 5 p.m., a 22-year-old first-year student at the Scuola Ispettori e Sovrintendenti della Guardia di Finanza in Coppito, a frazione of L'Aquila, fell from the window of her room on the third floor. The drop was at least 12 metres. Emergency services arrived quickly, stabilised her on site, and transported her to the San Salvatore hospital in L'Aquila.
Medical efforts and death
She was admitted in critical condition with severe head and pelvic trauma. Doctors performed emergency surgery, but her condition remained desperate. She died during the night of 23–24 July. The school had just held the traditional 'consegna delle fiamme' ceremony days earlier, marking her official entry as an allieva maresciallo.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the fall. According to Rai news, a voluntary act is not being ruled out. No further details have been released.
