Tottenham sign veteran goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer as part of De Zerbi's rebuild
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the free transfer of veteran Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who will officially join the club on 1 July after his Burnley contract expires.
Signing details
Tottenham announced the signing on Wednesday, confirming Dubravka as manager Roberto De Zerbi's fourth summer acquisition. The 37-year-old arrives on a free transfer following the expiry of his deal with Burnley and will link up with the squad from 1 July. He follows defenders Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke through the door as Spurs rebuild after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League for a second consecutive season.
A goalkeeping reshuffle
The move is expected to allow Antonin Kinsky to become first-choice goalkeeper. The 23-year-old Czech started Tottenham's final seven league matches of the 2025–26 campaign, helping the side secure survival, and retained his place even after Guglielmo Vicario returned for the last two games. Vicario's future is uncertain, with reports indicating the Italian is likely to leave the club this summer. Dubravka, bringing 197 Premier League appearances and 51 clean sheets, will compete with Kinsky and provide experienced cover.
Everything moved pretty quickly and I'm really happy to be here. I've loved watching Roberto's teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here.
I am very happy because Martin is a goalkeeper with big experience and a strong mentality. He has very important qualities for me and will bring balance, leadership and competitiveness to our dressing room.
Dubravka's career path
The Slovakia international joined Newcastle United in 2018 and made 179 appearances over seven-and-a-half seasons. He had a brief loan at Manchester United in 2022–23, winning the League Cup, before joining Burnley in August 2025. Last season he played 35 Premier League matches for the Clarets but could not prevent relegation from the top flight. Dubravka has also earned 60 caps for Slovakia.
