Kateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend win US Open doubles to seal career Grand Slam
Top seeds Kateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend rallied from a set down to defeat wildcards Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday, completing their team career Grand Slam.
Comeback on Arthur Ashe Stadium
Top seeds Kateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend won the US Open women's doubles title on Friday, defeating American wildcards Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. The victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium completed a career Grand Slam for the pairing. Siniaková and Townsend had entered the final without dropping a set in the tournament, but fell behind early after losing the opening three games. Siniaková double-faulted three times in the final game of the first set, including on set point.
The top seeds shifted momentum early in the second set. After facing a 40-30 deficit in the opening game, Siniaková and Townsend took 23 of the next 27 points to sweep the set without dropping a game. In the deciding set, they consolidated an early break to build a 3-1 lead, before Townsend held serve at love to extend the margin to 4-2. Siniaková reflected on the tension of the title match during the post-match ceremony.
There was lot of nerves. We were really fighting for this one, so I'm just really proud. We did it.
Completion of the team Slam
The New York title is the fourth Grand Slam tournament won by Siniaková and Townsend since they began competing together in spring 2024. The pair held an 80-16 win-loss record heading into the final. Townsend became the 19th woman in tennis' Open Era to complete the career Grand Slam in doubles.

The championship served as retribution for the pair following their loss in the 2025 US Open final to Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe. Townsend expressed relief and celebration after falling to her knees at match point.

Milestones for Siniaková
The result delivered Siniaková her 12th Grand Slam doubles championship and her 39th doubles title overall. She became the first player in tennis history to achieve a career Grand Slam with two different partners, having completed her first between 2018 and 2022 alongside fellow Czech player Barbora Krejčíková.

Siniaková is one of eight women in the Open Era to win at least 12 Grand Slam doubles titles. If she retains the world number one ranking through the end of 2026, she will secure her sixth year-end top finish, moving past Martina Navratilova for the highest total in WTA history.
Wildcard finalists and tournament context
Krueger and Montgomery entered the tournament ranked 570th and 610th respectively in doubles. The American wildcard duo reached the final five years after winning the US Open girls' doubles title in 2021. Along their path to Friday's final, Krueger and Montgomery defeated defending champions Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe, playing in separate pairings, in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
For Townsend, the victory arrived 14 years after she won the 2012 US Open junior doubles tournament. Townsend had earlier been eliminated from the singles draw by world number one Aryna Sabalenka before focusing on the doubles competition.
