Shakira told the audience she had gone through a difficult few weeks emotionally because of the health of her father, William Mebarak, who is 95, without giving details. She thanked her team, crew, musicians and dancers, saying that more than 10,000 people worked on building the show. She then thanked Antonio de la Rúa, her partner between 2000 and 2010 according to El Mundo, calling him a great friend. Billboard describes him as a current collaborator. Shakira also spoke about how the residency had changed her.
I have become a woman grateful to you. I have learned that every time we fall, we get up wiser, more resilient and stronger.
