Man dies after chest wound in Santander nightlife fight, two arrested
A man died from a chest wound early on Saturday after a fight in Santander’s nightlife area. Police detained two men at the scene.
The incident
At about 04:25 on Saturday morning, the 091 emergency line received a report of a fight on Calle Gándara, a street in Santander’s nightlife zone. When National Police officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground near a nightclub, bleeding heavily from a wound to his chest. The injury was consistent with a blade.
Paramedics from the 061 Cantabria emergency service were called, but despite their efforts the man died at the scene.
Police response
Officers detained two men nearby. Both were taken to police facilities on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Specialised investigators and a judicial commission were dispatched to the area as part of standard protocol for serious violent crime. The commission oversaw the removal of the body.
