Samú Costa set for Al Nassr move after Mallorca accept €18m offer
The Portuguese midfielder will link up with compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix after the Saudi club outbid RB Leipzig and other European suitors.
Deal closed
Mallorca communications director Hector Martin confirmed on Tuesday to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiah that the club has reached a definitive agreement with Al Nassr for the transfer of Samú Costa. The Saudi Pro League side presented an offer that exceeded a bid from RB Leipzig and other European proposals, Martin said. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder will fill the gap left by Marcelo Brozovic, whose contract expired at the end of June. Al Nassr sporting director Simão Coutinho led the negotiations and travelled to Madrid to finalise the terms, according to Saudi outlet Okaz.
The deal between Mallorca and Al Nassr is closed. An agreement was reached for the transfer of Samu Costa, after the Saudi club surpassed the offer from Leipzig and other European proposals.
Player profile
Costa spent three seasons at Mallorca, making 36 appearances in the 2025-26 campaign with seven goals and two assists. His contributions were not enough to save the club from relegation to Spain's second division. The midfielder was part of Roberto Martínez's 26-man Portugal squad for the 2026 World Cup, featuring for 20 minutes in the goalless group-stage draw against Colombia. He now joins a growing Portuguese contingent at Al Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix are already on the books, though neither has yet joined the team's pre-season training.
Financial breakdown
Okaz reports the transfer fee at €18 million, structured in two instalments of no more than €9 million each. Costa's current market value is listed at €15 million, meaning Al Nassr is paying a premium above his estimated worth. Almería, which holds a 20 percent stake in the player's economic rights, will receive a corresponding share of the total fee. The exact distribution between Mallorca and Almería has not been disclosed.

Pre-season friendly
Al Nassr will travel to Portugal for a friendly against Estrela da Amadora on 1 August at the Estádio José Gomes. The match is the centrepiece of the inaugural Troféu Cidade da Amadora. Estrela, coached by Pepa, will use the game as a final rehearsal before their Primeira Liga opener against Sporting CP on 8 August. The Saudi club's squad integration will be tested, with Ronaldo and Félix still to link up with the group. Kick-off time has yet to be announced.
