Samsung confirms July 22 Galaxy Unpacked in London, teases wider foldable design
Samsung's summer Unpacked event will take place in London on July 22, where the company is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable phones, including a wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Z Flip 8. A $30 reservation credit and up to $1,230 in trade-in savings are already available.
Event details
Samsung's second Galaxy Unpacked of 2026 will be held on July 22 in London, with a livestream starting at 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST on Samsung.com, the Samsung Newsroom, and YouTube. The company has kept official details sparse, but the invitation tagline and animation point to a new foldable form factor.
It will introduce its latest Galaxy innovations that build on its leadership in foldables.
What to expect
Rumors and leaks point to at least three new phones: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The base Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a wider main display with a better aspect ratio for video, though it may ship with only two rear cameras to keep costs down. The Ultra model would add a less visible crease, three rear cameras, and possibly faster charging. The Z Flip 8 is likely to get a reworked hinge and a lighter chassis, but a global RAM shortage may limit major upgrades.
Design clues
Samsung wiped its social media accounts last week and replaced them with cryptic teasers. The animated Unpacked invitation shows a ticket being torn to reveal a shorter, wider silhouette, accompanied by the phrase "A New Shape Unfolds." That has fueled speculation that the company is ready to move beyond the tall, narrow design of previous Z Fold devices.
Preorder offer
Ahead of the event, Samsung is offering a $30 reservation credit with no commitment. Customers who preorder can combine that with an eligible device trade-in for up to $1,230 in total savings. There is also a sweepstakes for one of ten $500 Samsung.com gift cards.
Competitive landscape
The launch comes as Apple is rumored to be preparing its first foldable iPhone for a September debut. Samsung's wider Z Fold 8 design is seen as a direct answer to that device. Google has also scheduled a hardware event for August 12, likely for the Pixel 11 series.
