Javier Ruiz exits TVE for La Séptima as RTVE reshuffles morning lineup with Cintora
Javier Ruiz bid farewell to Mañaneros 360 on 7 August, leaving TVE for La Séptima. RTVE confirmed Jesús Cintora as his replacement from 24 August, part of a wider presenter reshuffle across its magazine programmes.
Ruiz bids farewell
Javier Ruiz presented his last broadcast of Mañaneros 360 on Friday, 7 August 2026, closing a year and a half as anchor of the TVE morning magazine. He departs for La Séptima, a new national television channel led by José Miguel Contreras, where he will serve as editorial director. His exit had been rumoured for weeks. During his tenure the programme pivoted toward political current affairs from 12:00, and its audience share climbed from an average of 7% to above 16%, the strongest result for La 1 mornings in over two decades.
The farewell was unscripted. Adela González, his co-presenter who will stay with the show, surprised him on air, telling him he had arrived "like a cyclone." Ruiz joked that it was "an ambush." The team later screened a video tribute, and the studio rose for a standing ovation with flowers. In a parting editorial, Ruiz warned of a "plague of falsification of journalism" and told viewers there had never been a more important moment to stay connected and seek information.

Cintora takes the reins
Jesús Cintora will replace Ruiz at Mañaneros 360 from 24 August, joining Adela González and Miriam Moreno. Until then, Aida Bao, who substituted for Silvia Intxaurrondo on La hora de La 1 during July and maintained or improved the programme's numbers, will hold the morning slot. Cintora announced the move live on Directo al grano, interrupting his holidays from Galicia. He called it an "enormous challenge" and offered a declaration of intent.

He will also continue presenting Malas lenguas noche, the Saturday edition on La 2, which launched three months ago and closed June with a 5% average share, hitting a record 7.9% on 1 August.

Wider reshuffle
The daily edition of Malas lenguas, which Cintora has presented since its premiere in spring 2025, passes to Gonzalo Miró from 31 August. Miró has already been filling in since 3 August. He will be joined by Esther L. Palomera on the La 2 edition and Ana Hinestrosa on the La 1 segment. The daily Malas lenguas achieved an 11.2% share on La 1, the channel's best in that slot since the 2010-2011 season, and 6.7% on La 2, its best since 1998-1999. Martín Barreiro will take over Directo al grano alongside Marta Flich.

Intxaurrondo stays
Silvia Intxaurrondo will return to La hora de La 1 on Monday, 10 August, ending speculation that she too might join La Séptima. She maintains an unresolved labour dispute with RTVE over a €100,000 salary cut following the regularisation of her contract as non-permanent staff. She considers the change a violation of acquired rights and is seeking to recover her original economic conditions. Her programme draws above 20% average audience share.
