Rosalía sings in English on Fontaines D.C. single 'Where Is Gone?' ahead of album
Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. has released 'Where Is Gone?', a ballad sung with Spanish singer Rosalía ahead of the album Dopamine Chamber, due Friday 16 October. It is the first time the band has brought a guest vocalist onto one of its records.
A new single before the album
Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. has released 'Where Is Gone?', the third single from Dopamine Chamber, its fifth album, which is due on Friday 16 October. The orchestral ballad pairs frontman Grian Chatten with Spanish singer Rosalía, who sings in English. It is the first time the band has invited a guest vocalist onto one of its records. Two earlier previews, 'Marianne' and 'Tongue', came before it. The album was produced by James Ford, a longtime collaborator of Arctic Monkeys and Florence + The Machine, and follows the band's 2024 record Romance.
How the song sounds
The track has a slow, misty mood, with verses shared between Chatten and Rosalía before the two sing a duet chorus. A late instrumental break adds a touch of restrained drama. According to El Periódico's review, the song echoes Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra, Luna, Nick Cave and Richard Hawley. Rosalía keeps a sober, low-key delivery that sits far from her more powerful and dramatic registers. Social media users have suggested the song would suit a James Bond film, a claim that circulated online and was not confirmed by any source.
Why the pairing happened
Guitarist Carlos O'Connell said in an interview that the band had followed Rosalía since her debut album.
I've been a fan of Rosalía since her debut album, which was absolutely beautiful.
O'Connell, who grew up in Madrid according to RTE, said the band saw in her work an effort to keep Spanish music and flamenco alive, a spirit close to what they try to do with Irish traditional music. Chatten told NPR he suspects his heart is similar to Rosalía's, and he called her an incredible arranger, composer and lyricist. He said being invited to sing on a song the band had already arranged was a career high point.
The band behind the record
Fontaines D.C. formed in Dublin in 2014, when five music students met at BIMM Dublin. Their international breakthrough came with the debut album Dogrel in 2019, which featured the songs 'Big', 'Too Real' and 'Boys in the Better Land'. The band played Primavera Sound in 2022 and 2025, and according to La Vanguardia it is one of the headliners of the festival's 2027 edition. The current lineup is Grian Chatten, Carlos O'Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan and Tom Coll.
Tour and upcoming dates
The band is backing the album with its biggest tour to date, twenty stadium concerts across Europe and the UK this autumn. Fontaines D.C. play the Meo Arena in Lisbon on Wednesday 21 October, with tickets priced from 49.39 euros to 60.13 euros depending on section. Madrid's Movistar Arena hosts the band on 22 October, and the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona follows on 24 October.

Rosalía's year
Rosalía is set to receive the Billboard Hall of Fame 2026 award on 22 October, which La Vanguardia reports honours a career defined by musical innovation and artistic vision. Her Lux Tour ran 57 concerts with all tickets sold out. The Ministry of Culture and Sport awarded her the Premio Nacional de Músicas Actuales 2026 in Spain. La Vanguardia also reports that U2 paid tribute to her in the song The Mirror Maker (Rosalía), on their new album.
