A wedding in the living room

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez married on 11 August 2026 in a civil ceremony held in the living room of their new home in Cascais, Portugal. The couple, together since 2016 and parents to five children, chose an intimate gathering over a celebrity spectacle, surrounded by family rather than a crowd of guests. Vogue obtained the exclusive on the ceremony and published previously unseen images taken by photographer Juergen Teller. The couple had announced their engagement in August 2025, one year before the wedding.

Georgina explained to Vogue why they chose their own living room as the venue.

We decided to do it in the living room of our house, where we have breakfast, lunch and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives. In 30 years I want the children to think: something wonderful happened at this table: our parents' wedding vows.

A date that closes the circle

The choice of 11 August was deliberate. On that date in 2016, Ronaldo and Georgina met for the first time at a Gucci store on Calle Serrano in Madrid, where she was working. The wedding fell exactly ten years after that first encounter. The couple dressed in Gucci for the ceremony, a nod to the brand where their story began. The looks were created by designer Demna.

Georgina wore a white silk faille suit with clean lines and a tailored silhouette, paired with white satin Gucci shoes decorated with the house's signature silver Horsebit detail. Ronaldo wore a light beige cotton tailored suit with custom-made moccasins, also by Gucci. Georgina told Vogue she did not want a gala look for the day.

I'm not going to dress us up. I didn't want us to have to wear gala clothes on such a simple day for us.

"Exactly as I had imagined"

Georgina described the ceremony as intimate and centered on family, telling Vogue she could not hold back tears. She also said the couple wanted their children to be protagonists of the day and to teach them the value of having nothing and having everything.

Ronaldo spoke about the relationship in the same Vogue interview.

I know she is the love of my life, and I believe I am hers too. I think she thinks I am the love of her life.

First public appearance as newlyweds

On 11 August, the couple shared a joint Instagram post showing their hands with wedding rings, confirming the marriage. Four days later, on 15 August, Ronaldo and Georgina made their first public appearance as newlyweds at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, where they and their children watched Ronaldo's team Al-Nassr face Al-Fateh in the Saudi League opener. Ronaldo did not play, having only just returned to training after the World Cup, and watched from the VIP box with his family.
