The victims were part of a group of six members of the same family who had traveled to Brazil to celebrate a 15-year-old girl's birthday. The group was split in two because the helicopter could only carry three passengers. The teenager was scheduled to take a second flight with her father and his partner. The women who lost their lives were the girl's grandmother, an aunt, and a cousin.
