Real Madrid denies any contact with Bayern's Michael Olise as transfer speculation swirls

Real Madrid moved on Saturday to quash intense speculation linking the club with Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, publishing a formal denial that explicitly rejected any approach for the 24-year-old.

Official denial

In a statement released on its website and social channels, Real Madrid said it "has had no contact, either direct or indirect, with the named player, his representatives or persons from his entourage." The club added that it "regrets the dissemination of speculation that does not correspond to reality" and stressed the need to resolve any mutual interest between the two entities before involving third parties. The unusual public rebuttal came after days of reports in Spanish media that a bid of up to €220 million was being prepared.

Real Madrid CF wishes to clarify that there has been no direct or indirect contact with the named player, his representatives or persons from his entourage.

Bayern's stance

Bayern Munich's leadership had already made its position clear. Club president Herbert Hainer said earlier in June that Olise is "not for sale," and during a fan-club visit he directly addressed Real Madrid's president.

Bayern regards Olise, whose contract runs until 2029, as a cornerstone of the team. The 24-year-old scored 15 goals and provided 19 assists in the last Bundesliga season.

Sources cited by German outlet N-tv mentioned a 150‑million‑euro figure, while Madrid-based daily Marca claimed a 220‑million‑euro proposal was under consideration. Both remained unconfirmed. The record transfer fee remains the €222 million Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar in 2017.

Olise in the spotlight

The French international is currently at the World Cup in North America, where he registered two assists in a 3‑1 win over Senegal. Teammate Kylian Mbappé praised Olise as "a player who always keeps his head up" and said "it's super easy to play with him." Olise deleted all Bayern-related photos from his Instagram account recently, a move that added fuel to the transfer speculation. Bayern is reportedly prepared to offer him a new contract with a gross annual salary of €20 million to keep him in Munich.

Other suitors

Paris Saint-Germain has also been named as a possible destination for Olise, though no formal approach has been confirmed. Real Madrid, which has not won a major title in two seasons, has been linked with Aurélien Tchouaméni and Mbappé possibly acting as mediators should formal talks ever begin.
