The dismissal
Raków Częstochowa announced on Monday, 19 October 2026, that it had ended its work with Tomasz Kaczmarek, a 42-year-old who led the Ekstraklasa side for only five matches. The club published the decision on its website and in a post on X, and both carried the same wording. Kaczmarek's record in charge stands at two wins and three defeats, and the team is bottom of the table with six points. Club officials concluded that the results were not good enough, and the farewell statement quoted Kaczmarek himself.
In that statement Kaczmarek thanked the people around the team for their work.
“I thank my players and staff, and everyone at the club, for our work together and for their trust.”
He also wished the team and the club success for the rest of the season, while the club wrote back to thank him for his work and wish him well in his future career.
Five matches under Kaczmarek
Kaczmarek took charge on 8 September, moving from Radomiak Radom, at a time when Raków had not yet collected a single point. Under him the team beat Motor Lublin 2:1 and Wieczysta Kraków 2:1, and the Wieczysta win came in his final match. Defeats came against Zagłębie Lubin (2:3), Korona Kielce (2:3) and GKS Katowice (1:4). The win over Wieczysta did not lift the side off the foot of the table, and the board judged the overall return insufficient to continue. By the club's count after 11 rounds of the season, the team had two wins and nine defeats.
A season of coaching changes
Kaczmarek was the fourth coaching change at Raków this year, following the departure of Marek Papszun in December 2025. Łukasz Tomczyk took over first, then Dawid Kroczek, who left at the end of August 2026. Dawid Szulczek held the post on an interim basis for two matches before Kaczmarek arrived. The fans now wait to see whether the club will again change its coach within the same autumn round, a pattern the club's own supporters have openly questioned.
Reported successor
Marcin Borzęcki of Kanał Sportowy reported that Dawid Szwarga is set to become the new coach. Szwarga is currently an assistant coach at GKS Katowice. He previously led Raków from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, taking over from Marek Papszun and qualifying the side for the Europa League. The club has not confirmed the appointment, and no official announcement names a new coach yet.
Next fixtures
Raków's next match is away at Wisła Kraków on Saturday, 24 October. The side then meets Motor Lublin in the round of 16 of the Polish Cup on 27 October. Until the board names a replacement, it is not known who will lead the team in either game.
