A stable Thursday with mist and gusts
Spain's State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) expects a stable Thursday, 29 October, with mostly clear skies across much of the country and some high clouds in the north. Morning mist and fog banks are likely on the southern plateau, the eastern third of the peninsula, the Betic ranges and the northern coast of Galicia. Weak rain or showers could fall in the Balearic Islands and along the southeastern coast during the first half of the day. Very strong gusts are possible in the Strait of Gibraltar, with strong intervals in the Alborán Sea, while winds stay moderate on the Cantabrian and Galician coasts. In the Canary Islands, isolated showers are possible in the mountainous islands, and dust haze will linger in the eastern half of the archipelago.
Temperatures split across regions
On Thursday, maximum temperatures rise in the interior of the Valencian Community, the Iberian System and the upper Ebro, while they fall on the Catalan and Alborán coasts. Madrid is forecast to stay between 10 and 21 °C that day. Regional capitals show a similar spread, with forecast maxima of 18 °C in Oviedo and León, 20 °C in Pontevedra and 22 °C in Ourense. Thursday's minima range from 5 °C in León to 11 °C in Pontevedra, with 10 °C forecast for Ourense and 8 °C for Oviedo.

Moist Mediterranean winds arrive on Friday
From Friday, 30 October, the centre of the anticyclone moves toward the British Isles, and from that position it draws moist winds from the Mediterranean. Rain and scattered showers are forecast for the Catalan and Valencian coasts and the Balearic Islands. On Friday, minimum temperatures rise slightly while maxima fall in the north, and more than 20 °C is expected across much of the centre, east and south of the peninsula. Seville could nearly reach 30 °C again that day. From Saturday, 31 October, the moist flow strengthens, and AEMET spokesman Rubén del Campo said the showers in the east would be persistent.
Persistent rain over the east into early November
From Saturday, 31 October, rain is forecast for eastern Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Region of Murcia, the province of Almería, southern Andalusia and the Balearic Islands. The heaviest totals that day could fall in the south of Valencia province and the north of Alicante province, although uncertainty remains. The showers could continue on Sunday, 1 November, and to a lesser extent on Monday, 2 November, with temperatures dipping slightly in the north and east. Weekend forecasts for regional towns are mostly dry, with Oviedo cloudy on Saturday with maxima above 17 °C, Ourense and Pontevedra mostly clear, and León clear on both days.
Madrid turns cooler after the weekend
The warm weekend forecast for Madrid is expected to draw many residents to cemeteries for All Saints. From Tuesday, 3 November, the spring-like temperatures of recent weeks end in the capital. Wednesday, 4 November, brings a change with rain across much of the Madrid region, and forecasters expect that unsettled pattern to continue and intensify in the days after.
