Heavy rain forces closure of Sant Miquel del Fai near Barcelona until July 28 due to landslide risk
The natural park in the Cingles de Bertí was shut on Saturday after intense rainfall raised the risk of rockfalls, with the Diputació de Barcelona's park network warning the site would remain closed through 28 July.
The closure was announced on the afternoon of 25 July 2026 as heavy rain hit the area. The park network posted on its website that Sant Miquel del Fai will stay shut until 28 July inclusive because of the danger of landslides.
Catalonia's civil protection agency, Protecció Civil, activated the INUNCAT flood plan alert on Saturday, forecasting intense rainfall across the northeast, the central coast and the south of the region. The meteorological service Meteocat warned of severe storms affecting the northern half of the pre-coastal area and the far northeast, with hail and strong wind gusts in many localities.
