Polish police and ABW seize firearms in Warsaw raid on three Russian nationals
Polish police and internal security agents detained three Russian citizens and seized three firearms during a raid on an apartment in Warsaw's Wola district.

Officers from the Capital Police Department for Combating Criminal Terror and Homicide, operating in coordination with the Internal Security Agency (ABW) Anti-Terrorist Centre, entered an apartment in Warsaw's Wola district during the weekend of 22–23 August 2026. The operation followed intelligence indicating that an organized criminal group was active at the location. Because law enforcement anticipated that the occupants could be armed, tactical units executed the entry under strict safety protocols. Officers secured the premises and detained three Russian citizens of Chechen origin, aged 21, 25, and 42.
During a search of the interior rooms, investigators discovered three firearms along with matching ammunition hidden inside a bedroom wardrobe. Two of the recovered weapons had their factory serial numbers deliberately obliterated.
Jacek Wiśniewski, press officer for the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters, outlined the operation in an official statement:
Due to the high risk that the men might be armed, the entry into the apartment in Warsaw's Wola was carried out with special precautionary measures.
Legal proceedings and detention
Officers transported the three men to the Warsaw Metropolitan Police headquarters for formal questioning and procedural actions. The Warsaw-Wola District Prosecutor's Office reviewed the evidence and filed charges against the 42-year-old suspect for the unauthorized possession of firearms and ammunition. Under the Polish Penal Code, illegal possession of firearms carries a prison sentence ranging from six months to eight years. Acting on a formal motion from the prosecutor, the district court ordered the 42-year-old remanded in pre-trial custody for a period of three months.
The other two individuals were processed under separate legal frameworks. Polish authorities initiated an official deportation procedure against the 25-year-old Russian national to remove him from the country. The youngest of the group, a 21-year-old man, gave testimony in the capacity of a witness and was released from the police station without charges. Forensic specialists received the seized firearms to determine whether the weapons are functional and whether ballistics link them to earlier unsolved offenses.

Identified suspects and official reaction
According to unofficial information reported by RMF FM, the 42-year-old detained suspect is Asłambiek S., a Russian mixed martial arts competitor of Chechen origin who has represented Poland in professional bouts. Asłambiek S. is a former KSW welterweight champion and tournament belt winner. He is also a cousin of Mamed Ch., a well-known MMA athlete who received a sentence of one year and six months in prison and a fine of 280,000 Polish zloty in July 2026. That conviction involved acquiring or attempting to acquire stolen luxury vehicles, including models such as the BMW M6 GT, Porsche Panamera, and BMW 750 xDrive, across Poland and Czechia.
Sub-inspector Monika Kaczyńska from the Warsaw Metropolitan Police press team and Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński publicly confirmed the joint operation on 27 August 2026. Kierwiński published a message on the social platform X praising the Warsaw police and ABW agents for executing the operation.
