Motorcyclist strikes police officer during traffic stop in Krężnica Jara and flees
A police officer was hospitalized after being struck by an unregistered electric motorcycle in Krężnica Jara on Thursday afternoon, triggering a large manhunt across Lublin County.
Traffic checkpoint in Krężnica Jara
Traffic police officers carried out road control operations on Thursday afternoon, 1 October 2026, in the locality of Krężnica Jara within Lublin County. The checkpoint was organized in the immediate vicinity of a pedestrian crossing following formal requests submitted by local residents. That specific crossing had previously been the site of a fatal incident in which a nine-year-old child lost their life. The patrol was stationed specifically to enforce speed limits and enhance safety for pedestrians in the rural area. While monitoring traffic flow along the roadway, officers observed an approaching two-wheeler moving at high speed toward the checkpoint area. The vehicle, an electric motorcycle, lacked standard vehicle registration plates. Officers positioned on the roadway gave clear hand commands demanding that the driver bring the machine to a halt for a standard roadside inspection.
Collision and foot pursuit into woodland
Rather than complying with the officers' instructions to pull over, the driver continued forward and struck one of the traffic policemen standing directly on the roadway surface. The impact caused the electric vehicle to overturn onto the asphalt immediately after hitting the officer. The rider then abandoned the motorcycle on the street and fled the scene on foot before other officers could detain him. He ran directly toward a nearby forested area bordering the road to conceal himself in the dense woods.
Junior Aspirant Beata Kieliszek of the Lublin Provincial Police Headquarters outlined how the encounter developed:
At a certain moment, officers noticed a motorcyclist approaching at high speed. They decided to stop him for an inspection. And then the accident occurred. The motorcyclist struck one of the policemen. Immediately afterwards, he overturned and fled on foot into the nearby forest.
Hospitalization and medical assessment
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene in Krężnica Jara shortly after the collision occurred to provide care to the injured patrolman. The struck officer was placed into an ambulance and transported directly to a regional hospital for medical evaluation. Police representatives confirmed that the officer's condition is stable and that his life is not in danger. However, medical personnel determined that the physical injuries sustained during the collision were classified as requiring treatment and medical care lasting longer than seven days.
His life is not in danger, but the injuries he suffered were qualified as requiring treatment for more than seven days.
Search operation and formal investigation
Regional police units initiated a manhunt across Krężnica Jara and neighboring areas of Lublin County to track down the fleeing suspect. The search operation involves dozens of police officers deployed along regional roads and through the adjacent forest, supported by a specialized tracking dog. Officers are conducting field searches and checking surrounding escape routes throughout the Lublin district. Police investigators secured the abandoned electric motorcycle at the scene to examine the unregistered vehicle and assist with suspect identification. Forensic specialists and traffic accident investigators are working to establish the exact travel speed of the motorcycle at the time of the collision. The ongoing inquiry focuses on determining whether the driver deliberately steered into the officer to escape or lost control of the electric machine upon encountering the police checkpoint.
