With Benedyczak sidelined, Urban's forward selection is down to Robert Lewandowski, Karol Świderski, and Mateusz Żukowski, with Arka Gdynia forward Karol Czubak considered among the potential replacements.

Knee injury sidelines Grabara as Drągowski steps in

Benedyczak is not the only player removed from the squad due to a severe injury. On Saturday, 19 September 2026, Juventus confirmed that goalkeeper Kamil Grabara tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a training session. The knee injury rules Grabara out of action for the autumn international window and required an immediate call-up for Bartłomiej Drągowski.

Poland returns to Warsaw to face Romania on 2 October before traveling to Zenica for a rematch against Bosnia and Herzegovina on 5 October. The autumn campaign concludes in November with an away match in Romania on 14 November and a home fixture against Sweden in Wrocław on 17 November.
