Fitness coach Paweł Chamera confirmed on social media that the forward required surgical intervention following the fall. The injury deprives Benedyczak of another opportunity to make his senior debut for Poland, having previously earned a call-up from former coach Michał Probierz in 2023. Benedyczak had established his credentials in international youth football by scoring eight goals in 11 appearances for Poland's under-21 team. With Benedyczak sidelined, Urban's forward selection is down to Robert Lewandowski, Karol Świderski, and Mateusz Żukowski, with Arka Gdynia forward Karol Czubak considered among the potential replacements.

Knee injury sidelines Grabara as Drągowski steps in

Benedyczak is not the only player removed from the squad due to a severe injury.
