Poland names ski jumping squad for Wisła Summer Grand Prix with Tomasiak, Wąsek and two debutants

The Polish Ski Association (PZN) named ten men and two women to compete at the Summer Grand Prix opener on August 1-2, 2026, at the Adam Małysz Hill in Wisła. Coach Maciej Matusiak selected the men's roster: Kacper Tomasiak, Paweł Wąsek, Piotr Żyła, Dawid Kubacki, Maciej Kot, Klemens Joniak, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Jakub Wolny, Kamil Waszek, and Łukasz Łukaszczyk. Kamila Karpiel and Anna Twardosz will represent Poland in the women's events. The lineup fills Poland's full host-nation quota of spots.

Horngacher's return and Stoch's retirement

The Wisła event marks the first test for the national team since Stefan Horngacher returned to the Polish Ski Association as training coordinator. Horngacher, who previously worked with the Polish team, signed a contract through 2030. It is also the first summer season since Kamil Stoch, the three-time Olympic champion, retired after the 2026 Winter Olympics. The squad includes Stoch's long-time teammates Piotr Żyła and Dawid Kubacki.

Recent form in Szczyrk

The selected men filled the top ten spots at the Memorial Olimpijczyków in Szczyrk on July 15. Tomasiak won, with Wąsek second and Waszek third. That result likely influenced the selection, as the Wisła lineup mirrors the Szczyrk top ten exactly. Debutants Waszek and Łukaszczyk will make their Summer Grand Prix debuts; Łukaszczyk placed tenth in Szczyrk.

Event schedule

The Wisła competition runs over three days, starting Friday July 31 with a technical briefing at 20:00. On Saturday, women's official training begins at 8:30, with the women's first competition series at 11:00. Men's training follows at 15:00, and the men's first series at 17:30. Sunday features women's qualifiers at 10:00, followed by the women's series at 11:30, men's qualifiers at 13:15, and the men's competition at 14:45. The next leg of the Summer Grand Prix takes place a week later in Courchevel, France.
