Poland launches 500 million PLN Vinci Space Tech Fund to finance space ventures
State development bank BGK has established the 500 million PLN Vinci Space Tech Fund to invest between 10 million and 100 million PLN in up to 20 Polish space sector companies.
Fund structure and capital allocation
Poland's state development bank, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, has launched a dedicated venture capital vehicle named the Vinci Space Tech Fund with a budget of 500 million PLN. Polish Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański and BGK President Mirosław Czekaj announced the initiative on 6 October 2026 at the Kraków Technology Park. The fund will provide growth capital to domestic companies developing space technologies, offering financing tickets ranging from 10 million PLN to 100 million PLN per business.
The new vehicle represents the third fund managed by Vinci, joining existing private equity and venture capital structures. With this addition, total funding allocated by BGK across all three Vinci vehicles reached 1.6 billion PLN. Prior to this launch, Vinci had already completed investments in two space sector companies, satellite manufacturer Iceye and astronomy software firm Sybilla Technologies.

Technology sectors and portfolio scope
The fund aims to build a portfolio of between 15 and 20 companies ready for commercial expansion. While the primary focus is directed toward domestic enterprises, the investment strategy also allows participation in European firms that maintain their core operations in Poland. The capital target addresses six specific technical sectors, including satellites, optics and Earth observation, satellite communications, electronics and photonics, rockets and propulsion systems, as well as data processing and artificial intelligence.
Supporting these technologies provides domestic companies with the resources needed to protect critical infrastructure, monitor airspace and national territory, and deploy advances in robotics, quantum technologies, and electronic systems. The availability of local capital is structured to prevent emerging firms from having to seek funding exclusively from foreign investors to finance their scaling stages.
Strategic economic objectives
Government and bank officials framed the 500 million PLN commitment as a measure to retain high-technology talent and build competitive advantages in industrial segments critical to national security. During the presentation in Kraków, Domański emphasized the economic sovereignty goals connected to the initiative.
Today we are announcing a fund for the space sector. The Space Tech Fund is half a billion zlotys. This is not just an increase in the availability of financing; these are funds that will help strengthen Poland's strategic economic independence, allow us step by step to build our economic sovereignty, build our security and our resilience.
Czekaj stated that BGK structured the fund to assist domestic firms in scaling commercial applications of their innovations so they can compete directly in international markets.
Strategic partnerships and regional hub
The initiative brings together four institutional and industrial partners to support portfolio companies with operational scaling and market access. Satellite reconnaissance firm Iceye joined as a strategic partner to provide operational guidance on building global business operations. The partnership also includes the Kraków Technology Park, the Ministry of Development and Technology, and the Polish Space Agency.
Kraków was selected as the operational base for the fund due to its research infrastructure and educational facilities, including the AGH University of Science and Technology's Faculty of Space Technologies. The Kraków Technology Park will assist portfolio firms with commercialization processes, business development, and networking with international investors.
We want the most advanced technologies to be developed here, we want competences to be built here in Poland.
