Atlantic low Felicia to end warm spell in Poland with 10-degree temperature drop and 80 km/h winds
Low Felicia will end Poland's warm autumn conditions on 8 October, lowering temperatures from 25°C to 12°C by Friday with widespread rain and gusts up to 80 km/h.
Low Felicia and the final day of warmth
Poland will experience the culmination of an unseasonably warm spell on Thursday, 8 October 2026, before an Atlantic weather system reshapes conditions across central Europe. A deepening low-pressure system named Felicia, centered near Jutland and moving toward southern Sweden, will direct a flow of warm, dry air into the country. The eastern half of Poland will register temperatures between 7 and 8 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages. Highs on Thursday will reach 24 to 25 degrees Celsius in southeastern regions and southern Poland, while central areas will record 21 to 23 degrees Celsius. Western Pomerania will stay cooler, with maximum values between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. Morning conditions will start clear with single-digit temperatures, though Carpathian foothill areas will warm to approximately 15 degrees Celsius early due to foehn winds.
Meteorologist Bogdan Bąk from Bydgoszcz described the timing of the transition.
For several hours on Thursday, it will remain sunny and warm, but at night the weather will begin to change, and in this way we will say goodbye to Indian summer.
- Low Felicia warm sector raises temperatures to 25°C before cold front reaches the west.
- Cold front sweeps east with temperatures dropping to 12-15°C and coastal gusts reaching 80 km/h.
- Weekend begins with cooler maritime polar air and highs between 16 and 17°C.
- Temperatures decline further to approximately 14°C under persistent northwest circulation.
- Atmospheric pressure peaks at 1026 hPa ahead of another low-pressure system.
- Atmospheric pressure drops to 987 hPa with renewed precipitation.
Cold front passage and rainfall
A cold front associated with Low Felicia will advance into western Poland during the second half of Thursday, marking the end of the high-pressure block over the continent. Cloud cover will increase from the west, bringing scattered showers that will reach a line running from Łeba through Poznań to Wrocław by Thursday evening. Rainfall amounts in the initial band will reach 2 to 5 liters per square meter, with pre-frontal showers and isolated evening thunderstorms possible in the western Carpathians and Upper Silesia. Overnight into Friday, rainfall will spread eastward across the country, delivering between 10 and 15 millimeters in southern areas, with localized totals exceeding 20 liters per square meter. The western regions will see clearing conditions overnight as the front advances toward the eastern borders.
Weekend conditions and wind gusts
Temperatures will fall by more than 10 degrees Celsius on Friday as maritime polar air from the northern Atlantic flows across Poland. High temperatures on Friday will not exceed 12 to 15 degrees Celsius across most of the country, while Podhale will reach a maximum of roughly 10 degrees Celsius. Overnight minimums heading into Friday will drop to between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius, remaining slightly higher at around 11 degrees Celsius along the Baltic coast, Podkarpacie, and Zamojszczyzna. Strong winds will lower perceived temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius nationwide. Wind gusts will reach up to 50 km/h inland, 60 km/h in the south, and between 70 and 80 km/h along the Baltic coastline and near mountain bases.
