Four goals in an open first half
Pogoń Szczecin and Wisła Kraków met on Sunday evening for the first time since the May 2024 Polish Cup final, playing out a 2:2 draw in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa. The match at the stadium in Szczecin drew 20,398 spectators and began with intense attacking action from the opening minutes. The hosts took the lead in the 3rd minute when Maciej Wojciechowski located Musa Juwara running into the penalty area from the right wing. Juwara beat defender Jakub Krzyżanowski and placed the ball into the net to make it 1:0. Wisła responded in the 20th minute when Marko Bozić struck a shot from 20 metres out. The ball deflected off Juwara's leg, leaving goalkeeper Valentin Cojocaru stranded as it crossed the line for an own goal.
Pogoń regained the advantage four minutes later following a corner delivered by Patryk Dziczek. Captain Linus Wahlqvist converted from two metres out after a scramble near the goal line. Wisła drew level again in the 33rd minute through Elie Youan, who capitalised on confusion inside the box after two Pogoń defenders fell to the ground. The first half ended 2:2 with both sides converting their limited opportunities efficiently.

Missed chances and late pressure
The second half brought heavier rain and a shift in momentum as both teams struggled with finishing despite creating several clear opportunities. Pogoń forward Jean-Pierre Nsame saw a 49th-minute strike saved by Wisła goalkeeper Marcel Łubik. In the 55th minute, Nsame had a chance to put Pogoń ahead after a defensive miscommunication left him with an open goal, but he failed to register a shot. Pogoń also threatened from a 30-metre free kick taken by Leo Borges, which went wide of the post.
Wisła controlled larger shares of possession as the half progressed and produced the more dangerous opportunities in the final stages. Cojocaru tipped a 77th-minute shot from James Igbekeme over the crossbar to keep the score level. One minute before the end of regulation time, Bozić struck the woodwork with a shot from outside the penalty area. Łubik even attempted a shot from distance for the visitors during the second half. Referee Damian Kos issued yellow cards to Dimitris Keramitsis, Dziczek, and Kamil Grosicki for Pogoń, while Jordi Sanchez and Maxence Maisonneuve received bookings for Wisła.
Tactical choices and league standings
Wisła manager Mariusz Jop introduced four changes compared to the previous match against Górnik Zabrze. Jop opted to leave Angel Rodado on the bench at kickoff and omitted Frederico Duarte from the match squad entirely. Pogoń head coach Oscar Garcia maintained his approach following a two-week league break, making substitutions in the second half by bringing on Darko Churlinov, Filip Cuic, and Grosicki.
