Pedestrians struck on Krakow sidewalk
A passenger car struck three pedestrians walking on a sidewalk in central Krakow on Saturday, 22 August 2026, at approximately 17:45. The collision occurred along Solna Street, with initial emergency dispatches also designating the adjacent Nadwiślańska Street location. The victims of the incident were a family group consisting of two adults, a man and a woman aged approximately 30, and a one-year-old child. According to preliminary findings reported by emergency services, the passenger vehicle left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk, striking all three pedestrians. Captain Hubert Ciepły, press officer for the Lesser Poland Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service, confirmed the sequence of events during initial briefings.
Probably the driver who was driving the car veered off the road and hit pedestrians walking on the sidewalk.
Resuscitation and emergency hospital transfers
Upon reaching the collision location, first responders found both adult pedestrians suffering from critical injuries that necessitated immediate life-saving intervention. Paramedics and firefighters initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation on both the man and the woman directly on the street pavement. The emergency medical personnel successfully restored basic life functions to both adult patients prior to hospital transport. Ambulances subsequently transferred both adults to a local hospital under the active escort of attending firefighters. The one-year-old child remained conscious following the collision and was transported separately to the hospital for comprehensive medical treatment and monitoring.
A one-year-old child was also transported to the hospital, who was conscious at the time of handover.
Deployment of emergency services at the scene
A total of four fire service units, comprising approximately 20 firefighters from the State Fire Service, were dispatched to manage the scene following an urgent notification to the fire service duty officer. Fire crews secured the area around Solna and Nadwiślańska streets to maintain public safety and provide unobstructed operating room for medical teams. Firefighters worked in direct coordination with paramedics, assisting with physical chest compressions and preparing patients for ambulance transport.
