Opoku scores late double as Panetolikos defeats Levadiakos 2-0 in Super League
Substitute forward Opoku scored in the 77th and 94th minutes at Lambros Katsonis Stadium to lift Panetolikos to the top of the Greek Super League with nine points.
First-half woodwork and defensive escapes
The third round of the Super League season opened at the Lambros Katsonis Stadium with aggressive offensive moves from both clubs. Levadiakos appealed for a penalty in the fifth minute following a challenge by Charis Mavrias on Ursi, but referee Katsikogiannis dismissed the claim after the video assistant referee review upheld the on-field decision. Panetolikos controlled the opening quarter of an hour and generated the first clear chance in the seventh minute. Erakovic struck a powerful right-footed effort from outside the penalty area, forcing Levadiakos goalkeeper Anacker into a save before Baci headed the rebound against the crossbar. Levadiakos gained possession after the 15th minute and threatened in the 19th minute, when a curling free kick from Vichos led to a header by Stajic that forced Panetolikos goalkeeper Koutserenko into a save. The visitors survived another scare in the 36th minute after an Ursi corner kick, when Baci deflected the ball onto his own crossbar, preventing an own goal before the Agrinio defense cleared the danger to enter the break at 0-0.
Second-half pressure and Opoku's brace
The pace accelerated after half-time as both teams traded attacking sequences in the final third. Panetolikos threatened in the 50th minute when Satsias found Esteban inside the penalty box, though the midfielder sent his technical left-footed shot wide of the post. Levadiakos replied in the 52nd minute through Kobnan, whose strike from a difficult angle missed the target, followed by a 60th-minute solo run from Emmanouilidis that ended with an off-target shot. Panetolikos manager Giannis Anastasiou altered his lineup in the 62nd minute by bringing on forward Opoku. The substitution broke the deadlock in the 77th minute, when Opoku controlled the ball in the penalty area and fired a left-footed strike that grazed Anacker's hands on its way into the net. Panetolikos nearly scored again in the 83rd minute when an Alexis header struck the Levadiakos woodwork, but Opoku sealed the 2-0 victory in the 94th minute by breaking into open territory, rounding Anacker, and finishing into an empty net.
