
Panathinaikos beats Fenerbahce 92-74 in EuroLeague and stays unbeaten at 4-0
Panathinaikos AKTOR won 92-74 at the Telekom Center Athens in the fourth round of the EuroLeague, while Fenerbahce suffered its first defeat of the competition. Matias Lesort and Nigel Hayes-Davis each scored 19 points for the home side.

Panathinaikos AKTOR beat Fenerbahce 92-74 at the Telekom Center Athens in the fourth round of the EuroLeague, improving to 4-0 and staying at the top of the standings. It was Fenerbahce's first defeat in the competition, leaving the Turkish side at 3-1. Before tip-off the home crowd gave Sarunas Jasikevicius a warm reception, and Jasikevicius and Zeljko Obradovic shared an embrace on the court. EuroLeague president Dejan Bodiroga attended the game. Fenerbahce briefly led 14-9 early on, but Panathinaikos regained control in the first period.
How the game turned
Panathinaikos led 27-24 after the first quarter. It pushed its margin to nine points at 40-31 in the second quarter, then went into the break ahead 46-41 after Fenerbahce cut the gap to five. Silvain Francisco had 14 points, three rebounds and four assists by halftime, and the home defence created problems for Fenerbahce in the second half. The third quarter decided the game. The lead went from 57-47 to 62-47 after a Nikos Rogkavopoulos three and good decisions by Lesort, and Panathinaikos led 67-55 at the end of the period. It moved up by 18 at 76-58 before two minutes of the final quarter had been played, and the margin was not threatened again.

Individual performances
Lesort was the top performer with 19 points and six fouls drawn in 21 minutes and 6 seconds of playing time. Hayes-Davis added 19 points, and Francisco finished with 17 points and seven assists. Rogkavopoulos entered the court for the first time in the third quarter and scored eight points in five minutes, giving Panathinaikos a double-digit lead. Mustafa Fall made his debut for Panathinaikos, playing a few minutes in the second quarter and scoring two points. For Fenerbahce, Ki scored 13 points with seven rebounds and Yuzbang added 10 points, with no other Fenerbahce player reaching double figures.

Next fixtures
Panathinaikos hosts Promitheas on 10 October at 19:00 in the Stoiximan GBL. Its next EuroLeague game is away at Partizan on 13 October, which one report describes as the first time this season the team will leave the Telekom Center. It then faces Hapoel Tel Aviv on 16 October, in a week of the EuroLeague season that includes two rounds. Panathinaikos remains unbeaten after four rounds of the competition.
